Is a disc rearend weaker than a drum?

I found a 84 HO z28 with a disc brake rear and posi(g80) with 3.73's(gt4) and I was wondering if the interals were the same as the drum rear on my 86(Are they swapable?). This the exact setup I was looking for my IROC, but if it's a weaker rear, then I'll have to think twice. BTW what would I need off the donor car to complete my swap, so the brakes work properly (ie: master cylinder, etc), Thanks

What would I need off the donor car for proper braking proportions?

All third gen rears are equally weak. You will need the proportioning valve off the donor car.

This may sound like stupid question, but were is the proportioning valve located on a stock brake system (Is it that brass piece directly below the master cylinder ?). Rear disc brakes are new to me and I've never had to worry about this in the other rear swap's I've done....

One difference is that the drum brake axle ends are bigger in diameter and won't fit inside a disc rotor without having it turned on a lathe. The proportioning valve is the aluminum block right below the master cylinder.
