After rebuild... driveahft won't go in...

Ok, I just replaced my broken 700-R4 with one I rebuilt, but I can't get my driveshaft in. I replaced my tailshaft bushing with a new one, along with a new lip seal.. maybe these are causing it not it go in all the way? It will go almost all the way in, if I really shove it in... but then again, maybe i just need to add some tranny fluid as a lubricant... any ideas?

Owner of a 1989 IROC-Z Camaro, a.k.a. "The Babe Magnet". Painted a cheap metallic blue that chips off all too easily and covers over the IROC-Z decals on the doors, also has non-leaking T-tops, ps, pw, power rear hatch, working A/C. Mods: SLP intake runners, gutted MAF sensor, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, modified air spoil, 3.27 posi rear end.
Broken stuff: rear spoiler brake light, driver side lock, power antenna, tilt steering, rear end bushings, cracked passanger side ground effect, washer fluid tab, leaking exhaust and a rotted through muffler that sparks when the car bottoms out while driving like any 17 year old does.

did the tranny you swapped in was out of a fbody? i know on fords, the AODs, the car and truck versions are different. i installed a used tranny in a F150 that came out of a linclon town car for a customer, the salvage yard swore it was the same tranny, but the drive shaft wouldnt go in all the way, the internals of the tailshaft where different, so i had to pull it back out, and he had to get a tranny from a truck. hope this helps.

oh, one more thing i forgot, make sure that you put some grease on the inside of the driveshaft snout on the splines, where it goes into the back of the tranny. i have seen driveshafts not want to go all the way because it was dry, or maybe there was a small burr or something on the tranny spline. if the tranny was rebuilt, tolerances are going to be tighter. if you can hear the driveshaft bottoming out when you put it in, i'd say the tailshaft or something is different, but if it wont go in, try lubing it, and tap(not to hard)with a hammer on the driveshaft, not on the tube, that will ruin the balance, and make the car do really bad things. and this should "help" the drivehshaft in. i just put a rebuilt tranny in different ford truck than mentioned in my previous post, and i had to "help" the drive shaft in the first time because everything was so tight...hmmmm makes a guy think dont it? hehehehe well anyways. sorry this was so long, hope it helps.
