Shift **** won't come off...

Hey guys, I feel like a really idiot asking this question. But...how do I get my shift **** off?? Tried it first with just my hand, nope. Then I tried it with an adjustable pliars, but the shaft would spin with it. So then I tried it with two pliars one holding the ball, and one holding the shaft. And yet AGAIN, didn't even move. So I'm thinking that it has to have some kind of thread sealer on it, because it's a SOB to get off. And it being on there for 15 years doesn't help either. So if any one has any ideas, I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks

Well, like I said above I wish it could be that easy. Believe me it's not as simple as it sounds. I've tried just about everything except one guy said I could heat the bottom of the **** with a hair dry and see if that will help losin it up. Thanks for the replies guys.

LOL ! I went to the dealership to ask how to get mine off my old camaro about 3 yrs ago. 2 big guys tried and couldn't get it off. Then some lil' dude hopped in and took it right off. :-) It is more effective to use a heat gun, but be careful not to melt the ball.

That's pretty funny! Do you remember how the little guy got it off?? I'm going to try and heat it up with a hair dryer today and see if that will get the SOB off. If not it's off to the dealership! Thanks again
