I have an 83 Firebird with a V8 and a five speed. Unfortunately, I have to part with it due to the fact that half a spark plug is lodged in the #6 cylinder and my grandfather has sold his house, where it is stored. My cousin is building a 5.0 stang and needs a tranny. I know that they both use the Borg Warner T-5, but we're not sure that you can just swap the bellhousings and bolt it in from one to the other. Does anyone know whether they do or not? If not, is anyone here interested in it? I'd sell either the tranny or the whole car (69k, straight body, t-tops, good interior, needs paint and the spark plug removed from the head) for 300 bucks. (I'd even remove and ship the tranny to you as long as you pay shipping). Central Islip, NY. I'd appreciate any help on this, as I'm moving to LA in a month and a half and need the $$. Thanks, D.

 

J812Many was inquiring about putting a ford BW T-5 in his car. He did quite a bit of research. He ended up trashing the idea (last I checked) because they were dramitcally different and it would be hard to do the swap without major fabrication. I expect the inverse to be just as difficult.

Do the shifters interchange between the two t5's? I mean from Ford to GM. I think I like the Ford shifter better.
