Is there another source other than dealership to get an 8-teeth speedometer gear. Went to GM, and the part has been discontinued (P/N 8628839). Can you guys recomment another source? Thanks for the help.

What is your rear end ratio? Most of the usual ones use a 7-tooth blue gear.

It's a 3.23 - i'm running 255-50/16's (rear). I already have the 20-teeth gear. Thanks RB!

The correct gears for a 3.23 with tires as close to stock diameter as those are would be a 7 tooth blue drive gear and a 18 tooth red driven gear IIRC. It might be a 19 tooth, but I think that's the right combo for 3.42s. I don't have the part #s.

Its a 7 tooth and an 18 tooth for 3.23 or 3.27 rear end and a T5. However, GM discontinued the 18 tooth gear too!

If you do happen to find a 8T drive, you would need a 21T driven with it. But I think even that combo is discontinued.

That BITES!!!!

Look in junkyards in 6-cylinder transmissions. Lots of them came with gears like that, that might be the best source if you can't get them from the dealer.
