AFTERMARKET GEARS

Quick question guys, is it normal for aftermarket gears to make a whining or humming noise.(best way to discribe it)
I have a 92 RS 305 TBI with a 700R4 automatic transmission. I went from 272 gear ratio to 410 gear ratio.
Thanks in Advance
Jonny

Does it whine on acceleration, deceleration, or both?

I've heard that the Richmond gears usually "whine" a little. I've got GM Motive's in my car, with no whining.

I've got Richmond 3.73s and upon installation I looked at the contact patch and it looked good to me and the mechanic doing it. They still whine a little even though they lined up pretty good.

Richmond is aware of this and says it's because they cut the gear teeth for strength.
