What doesn't seem to want to fit? The only real difference is the width of the rear, and that will only effect what rims you will have to use.

Okay, sorry. I'm not real good with cars, I'm asking this question for a friend. He says that the spacing or something is 2 inches too small (maybe large) on each side and won't allow it to fit. New wheels are expected. I think it's two inches too short on each side, how do you get around that?

The fourth gen units are 2inches wider on each side. You should be able to use the same wheels by letting them stick out, but it might look funny. It should fit with his wheels.

I was wondering about this too. Would the stock 4th gen wheels stick out or just ht original wheels? My camaro wheels are dished more than the 4th gen wheels. I you uesed the 4th gen wheels would they still stick out to much?

I'm thinking about swapping to a 4th gen rear also. The 4th gen wheels shouldn't stick out b/c they have different backspacing than do the wheels for the 3rd gens. The only reason I'm thinking about doing the swap is the price. I can get a whole 4th gen rear end for $250 w/3.23 or $300 w/3.42. I need new ring and pinion gears and a pinion bearing for mine. Still not exactly sure what I'm going to do though.

I read the tech page but it didn't answer my question about the rims. I tried to email the guy who wrote it but haven't received a response yet.

I would guess that the 4th gen wheels will stick out just a touch. You won't be able to use your 3rd gen rims though because the brake calipers will hit the rims resulting in the whell not turning. I tried to use IROC rims on my 97 Z28 with slicks. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the 4th gen rims will stick out 1/2 to 1 inch. After all our 3rd gen rims don't sit flush tih the fender wells and the 4th gen rim will compensate for this. After that its all up to the backspacing. what you can do is take off one of your rims.......then add two inches to yoke (the end of the axle where the rim mounts to) and then add the rims mount serface to outer lip to that.
