Tailshaft Bearings

Has anyone ever replaced these? How is it done and what would I need to do the job?

If you're talking about what's in the rear of the trans, it's a bushing. It requires a bushing tool. The bushing is about $2, and if you have an auto trans, you can pop the extension housing off (4 bolts hold it to the trans, piece of cake) and take it to a trans shop and they'll probably do it for $5 or something if you ask them right. If you have a T-5, it's a whole lot more of a chore.
