If anyone is having problems with their 700r4 I think this will help you. I had problems with my tranny for many years, I have had a 88 and an 87 and have had problems with both by controlling them with the holley carb but this will help with any tv cable problem. This website Bowtieoverdrives.com will definitly help you understand how the throttle valve works. Then main thing that helped me Is making the cable pull out to its fullest extent when you are at wot. The way to do this is with the car not running, push in on the metal D shaped tab on the tv cable housing and push the slider in towards the firewall then let off on the metal tab, after that take your throttle lever and move it to its full throttle position using the accelerator pedal just to make sure that your pedal makes your lever go all the way. Now take your tv cable loose from where it mounts on the carb and pull it by hand as far as it will go and and make sure that it is lined up with the mounting point when the lever is in its full throttle position it should be out as far as it will go, and it should be set. The shift points should be right and it should kick down when you put it to the floor and it should not cycle up and down between gears. This should help you if this is done step by step, the website at the top of the page is really your best resort but this is how I made mine work properly. If anyone has any more questions feel free to email me at RedlineRacin69x@aol.com Good Luck

this is true for any 700r4 and the procedure has been posted hundreds of times. i believe the procedure is even posted in the tech articles accessible from the home page of this site. a quick search using the feature would have shown many previous posts some even mentioning the website.
