Ok, I'm finally starting my 355 engine and with the entire setup I should be pushing 400HP easy and about 425-450 ft lbs of torque!! Will my BW 9 bolt with 2.77 gears hold up??? I still have no idea why GM put such a sh*tty rear end with such sh*tty gears with nice disc brakes on an '86 TA!! That's just WRONG!! Bastards!!

200,000+ miles (speedo/odometer non-funtional! Odometer reads 142,000)
4 Wheel Discs
9 bolt Borg Warner Rear (2.77's....oh joy) :P
Completely Stock
Soon to upgrade to a 350 converted from TPI to Carb, Edelbrock 750CFM Carb, Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake, Headman Shorty Headers, Some sort of ported heads (undecided), XE268 Cam, Moroso HEI ignition kit with external MSD Blaster II Coil and an MSD 6-AL Box!!
Current project: Keeping my 305 running until I get my income tax returns!

86, I have those same gears and yeah they suck!! But, these rears seem to be pretty strong. My car is a 350 TPI with a few mods some I don't have listed, but mine has survived many nitrous runs with a 175hp shot hitting the gas and the gogo juice on the last yellow And its still hanging around. It was running 7.40s 1/8 mile times with the juice. Some 3.70s would be really nice though! Oh yeah man I'd pick up those AFR 195s and the XE274 cam. My bro has this cam in his 85 Z-28 with ported 462 chevy heads on a 350 5-speed and it ROCKS!! He's wanting those AFRs now though, those things are MEAN!!

The rear end isnt crappy, its just the gear ratio in it that is. The 9-bolt is actually stronger than the 10-bolt. You'll be fine.

Well sh*t then i'll just find a 3 series carrier, i figured the 9 bolt would like implode if i did a stroker or a 355.
