picked up 87z tpi-305 at tow away auction $600 put new starter, pickup coil and fuel pump ! she runs great, changed fluids-all. trany fluid and filter. tranny adjusted tv ok and shifted good, then tv cable started not to ratchet out correctlty when adustment attempt, put new tv cable in and changed filter/fluid again.
problem, adjusted tv cable many times with different results. wont shift from 1-2 requires high revs, adjus tv now wont engage fully in 1st, i can play with tv adjustment and 1st will engage and work great however shifting to 2nd req high revs.
any suggestions, could i have a clogged pr valve, could i possibly repair without overhaul ??any suggestions would be appriciated. if i get this thing working right it would be a good solid car. picked up a "virgin" set of z rims, car had big monster rims directional type-ugly.

It definatly sounds like the Throttle Valve in the valvebody is getting hung up, which would explain the unpredictable shifting you are seeing. You could try a new valve and sleeve, and see if that doesn't correct it. GM had problems with this valve getting hung up in the MAX position causing all the shifts to occur around 4000 RPMs and VERY hard.
