Do you need the vin to look it up. The thing is I wanna get some parts for it but the car is about four hours away so I can't go look. Its a 92 RS with out the performace rear end. So would that be the 7.5" GM 10 bolt?

GM stopped making the 7.5 a few years earlier. It will be a 7 5/8" with 28 spline axles.

With a V6 it will have 3.42 gears if it has a manual tranny and 3.23 gears if it's an automatic.

If it's a 305 V8 it will have 3.08 gears with a manual and 2.73 with an automatic.

I thought that the RS's with the autos had the 3.08's and the manuals had the 2.73s? What would you recoment for gears then or would you swap the whole rearend out?

Is that true about the rear end gears for auto and manual being 2:73 and 3:08 respectively? I always thought that 3:08 were the standard, auto or manual?

The 2.73 and 3.08 thing is for TBI V8 cars only. Automatics come with 2.73 open rear ends, and manuals come with 3.08 open rear ends.
