Need 700r4, what years will work

Engine: BP383 vortech, BP383, 5.7 TPI, LG4
Transmission: 4L60e, 700R4, 700R4..
Axle/Gears: 3.27, 2.73
Need 700r4, what years will work
Well,
My dad just blew out my transmission when I left it home for a few weeks. It's behind an 86 Z28 LG4. Which years came with the mechanical speedo, and which years will work with the stock computer? If I use a later year transmission with the torque converter that comes with it, will everything else hook up? If I get a tranny and TC with an electronic speedo, can I convert it easily to mechanical speedo stuff?

Have 400 short block waiting for a rebuild still planning it out

Well any 700r4 4l60e trans will work the later ones have alot of internal improvments. should be a pretty straight forward swap.Kevin

It's easily converted by just installing a cable driven speedo gear. mid 87 up to 93 cores are most desirable because of the 30 spline input shaft and 28 element sprag.
