Reverse acting up

I've been noticing lately that sometimes when I try to back up the engine will rev like its in neutral. Then I'll either pop it into Park and pull it back to R and it'll work fine. Either that or it'll finally catch in R. My tranny is only a little over 13k miles old and fluid isn't low or anything. I'm hoping this isn't gonna be bad or costly b/c I've already had to have it rebuilt once. BTW this has only happened 3 or 4 times and doesn't happen all the time.

Do you have an aftermarket shifter? Sounds like the linkage isn't adjusted correctly.. this could probably happen to an OEM shifter, too. The shift linkage is below the car, bolted to the driver's side of the pan.

Otherwise, did you have a warrantee on the trans? If so, bring it back! Make them pay for it.

That is kinda what I was thinkin since the shifter is out of adjustment a little. I have to hold the shifter forward in R to get backup lights. Its the stock shifter but when it was rebuilt last yr I guess they didn't get it adjusted properly. BTW the warantee ran out the first part of Feb.

It could be an internal problem some 700 had from the factory. The bleed off hole in the reverse piston is too large causing binding of the 3-4 clutches and reverse clutches. Or the linkage...
