What should I do about a manual tranny
What should I do about a manual tranny
I have an 83 camaro z28, I would like to change it to a manual transmission. Is this going to be a complicated switch? And how hard will it be to find a cheap manual tranny to put in?

Aside from the sticky about how to, you didn't specify your idea of cheap. If you mean cheap, you're probably looking at a salvage-yard automatic. What did your car come with? If it came with a T5, then it had the '83-only mechanical clutch linkage, which is now pretty rare. For '84, GM installed hydraulic linkage, and continued through '92.

well camaros are new to me, It has the stock Automatic tranny attached to an lG4 engine, I'm not sure what it is. my idea of cheap will prob take me to the salvage yard. It doesnt seem like there are too many manual tranny's out there in camaros????

your ideal situation would be to find a local donor car cheap . as we all know you only find those deals when you don't need them . you will find them on this forum going from 5 to 8 hundred . i sold an entire set-up to convert a few months ago for $675.00 . do a search on conversion , find out what you are going to encounter . good luck .
