Non 3rdgen Question

A girl I Work With has a 97ish Jimmy.
She is Very attractive ( side note ~ )

Its got a 5spd Manual ( I think 5, I didnt pay that much attention )

Anyhow, It grinds into reverse the magority of the time. All other gears are fine.

Pedal travel feels Fine. When Putting the Shifter into reverse, with the clutch depressed, If it dosent grind I can feel interferance.

Anyone willing to hazard a guess ?

It has a hydraulic clutch, the fluid level looked fine, But looked Dirty.

Thanks In advance.

Gears are grinded. It seems the tranny will need some rebuilding. U didnt say how many miles were on the tranny. And since its a females jimmy, they dont really know how to drive 5-speeds, no matter what they say. She grinded her gears. Tell her to get an automatic.

I don't know about Jimmy's but they probably suffer the same 'disease' mentioned here many times (also seen on Mustangs, Jeeps, S10's, ect) is a lightly syncroed reverse gear. Try putting it into first and then reverse. That interference you feel is the (ack! at a loss for techincal terms)...well...tailshaft is locked by the brakes, and it can't go into gear is basically what happens. If you let of the gear or go into first and put it into reverse while rolling it goes in easy. I usually end up having the "interference" in reverse every morning.

Yea i have the same problem with my 5-speed in my p/u, i just shove it in first or any other gear before i put it in reverse but if im still moving slightly and put in first or whatever and then reverse it will grind. So you just have to be completley stopped
