Increases pressure in the tranny. The .5 aftermarket boost valve is the one you want. It's right next to the pump inlet. One snap ring holds it into place.

Just a quick price check:
TCI-374301 23.69 from summitracing.com

With the tranny pan off, it's about a 10 minute job. Good snap-ring pliers really help.

would this in conjunction with a vette servo give me nice firm shifts from first to third gear?

A .5 boost valve for $9.84 from:

http://www.hptransparts.com

It's under g/m 700r4 valve body kits.

The corvette servo kit is only $9.41

I figured somebody had it cheaper. It's a simple part. .5 boost valve and vette servo in my otherwise stock 4.3L tranny from an astro van yields wheel spin when shifting.

Maybe a dumb question, but in wet (rainy) conditions, do you have any problems with the wheels spinning too much (uncontrolled), or does it shift "safely" if you keep your foot out of it? I'd be a little concerned about it in wet weather...

Driving a third-gen in bad weather you have to be careful anyway. The hard shift just adds to it a little bit. You get used to it. It's no different than a shift kit.

That kit has the accumulators in it for a rebuild. The hole gets elongated (aluminum on steel) and the piston ****s and leaks. Causing a sloppy shift. Just get the servo and reverse the accumulators like this.

Take the 3-4 accumulator out of the case. Put the spring in 1st. Flip the piston over.

Do the same to the 1-2 accumulator. So the pistons are flipped and next to the seperator plate. This effectivly renders them useless and hard shifts will result with no more leaks. Of course there are many ways to do this. B&M shift kits use solid spacers, but with fluid pressure on the far side it doesn't matter. You can tap the holes (not with trans in car!) and tie them with a piece of hard line.

There are holes to drill bigger in the plate too.

I carry the .500 main boost valve, .296 intermediate/reverse boost valve, and the Corvette servo. The total price for the package is $45.00. If I can help call me at 800 7763288 Mon-Sat 10-6 PST.
Glad Too Help!!!

Ummm.... Yeah, don't get the shift kit. Get the servo, boost valve......

The accumulators are little flat pistons in the valve body. One is on the outside (1-2 shift) and the other is directly under it inside the trans case (3-4 shift) They essentially 'cusion' the shifts against a spring. By taking the spring out, then taking the piston out. Then put the spring in first, then flip the piston over and put it in next. Both springs are up against the seperator plate. When you are done, the pistons will be next to the plate. They will no longer cushion the shifts. This is all most shift kits do, but you should do the servo and boost valve too. The 1-2 accumulator has it's own cover next to the valve body and is actually not connected to it. It's a snap to do and the pistons come right out with two pairs of needle nose to grab it (don't pry them out with a screwdriver or you'll damage the bore) You'll need to remove the valve body to get the other acc. though. Just remember to get the pistons near the seperator plate, and flip them over. It's like a mirror image thing.
