Auburn Gear mini spools

has anyone used this instead of posi rear? i saw it in jegs and it says it "locks the axles together for even power distribution to both rear tires" and it only costs around $100's which is a lot less than a posi any feedback would be appreciated thanx

To my knowledge they don't make one yet for 28 spline axles. Only 26 spline. By locking the axles together they will both turn the same speed. Not a good thing for a street car. When turning a corner with a regular differential either open or posi, the outside wheel turns faster than the inside one. When the axles are locked the outside tire can't turn as fast and will skid across the pavement.

Mini spools are mostly designed for dirt track racing where tire slippage isn't a concern. Dirt track cars also use different tire sizes on each side.

Mini spools are weak and won't survive the abuse of drag racing. Full spools aren't available for our tiny 7.5/7.625 differentials since they are not performance diffs.

That leaves only a few options. Get a Torsen diff from SLP, spend the money and buy a real posi or buy something like a LockRight PowerTrax
