Seems kind of dumb to go to all that trouble changing all that stuff and spending hundreds of dollars, then cheap out on the last $20 to make it a perfectly new part, don't you think? Even if they would "work", it's just not a very wise place to try to cut the last corner.
If you buy the full gear install kit (the one that's right at $100) it will have both of the pinion bearings, 2 carrier bearings, the pinion seal, and all the shims for both sets. At that point, all you need is the 2 axle bearings at about $8 each, and the 2 axle seals at about $2.50 each.
Get a 6' piece of water pipe at the hardware store, stick it through, knock the bearing out on the opposite side.
Check the axles carefully where the bearings ride. If they aren't smooth there, with no groove or other signs of wear, you should get other ones.

i was most likely going to buy the kit with everything already but just making sure.all i need to do is buy the kit with the bearings in it. someone was telling me i will need to use a press to take the bearings off the pinion and to put the new ones on is this true?

Yes you need a press. You should be able to goto the parts store and have them do it for you. I was told by SLP to change mine when i put my SLP posi in (even though it esentially had new bearings on it)
