Trans cooler

I am having a rebuilt trans put in my 92' B4C and wanted opinions on tranny coolers. I am thinking about bypassing the radiator all together and using just a cooler with an attached fan to the cooler. Are there any reasons not to bypass the radiator cooler? My friend has horror stories of when his radiator failed which in turn ruined his tranny. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have the B&M tranny cooler. They say not to bypass the radiator. I didn't when i instaled mine. If you are REALLY affraid of your rad blowing and the fluids mixing then buy a huge cooler. But i really wouldn't worry about it.

The cooler I had in mind was the 30,000GVW cooler with the 1250cfm fan attached. It is in the summitt catalog made by Perma-cool I think.
