I am going to change the fluid in my 9 bolt rear because, i looked over my car's repair history (and yes, i have every receipt and bill since the car 1st rolled off the lot), and there's no indication of fluid change... I have about 19x,xxx on the car. Do i just take the bolts off the rearend cover, drain fluid and then retighten them? What kind of oil (i know i should use the additive from GM). Anything i should look for and pay attention to when doing this? Any help is appreciated. (BTW, i did do a search but MS Internet Exp. kept trying to crash on me)

I would use the gm syn rear end fluid and there addtive, that is all I use in mine. Unbolt drain it out and then fill it back up, it is simple to do.

You answered all my questions right there I always worry with things like the rear end that i won't tighten something correctly and it'll become f--ked up. (Althought i wouldn't mind a 10 bolt with some better gears) Thanks.

I would install a new gasket while you have it apart also.
