Whats the Best Auto Shifter

What would be a good Auto Shifter for my 1985 Trans Am 305 TPI Auto. Maby a HURST V-MATIC 2 or a Hammer Shifter or Console Megashifter I like the hammer shifter but what you guys think?

Re: Whats the Best Auto Shifter

I've used a couple different versions of the old, reliable Megashifter over the years and it's always been a solid choice in my book. It doesn't have the lightest feel, but the one-gear-at-a-time ratchet action when you're doing "shift it yourself" through the gears is so bulletproof it makes a run at the track almost boring. Just about impossible to miss a shift.

The heavy feel of it doesn't make it the most friendly shifter on the street, but at the track (when adrenaline is flowing) the heavier feel is appreciated. It works great when you're beating the stuffing out of it. You can get angry on it and it won't break. You'll just about rip the mounting bolts through the floorboard before the shifter itself will break.

I agree with Damon. I love my Megashifter. It was a little stiff at first but is now feeling much better.
