Torque Converter Installation
I have a 84 700r4, it went out, so i got another 700r4 from a unknown year camaro. They both have able speedo's. Thing is is that the new 700r4 didn't come with a torque converter but i figured no big deal cause i still have my TC from my old tranny, i'll just use that right? Well for some reason the TC doesn't want to go on, does anybody know if the spline counts change at all through the years or anything? or any tricks to getting it on? thanks

Yes, the spline counts changed. Unlucky for you, the change was in mid-84, from 27 spline to 30 spline. Even so, you don't want to reuse a converter from a failed trans because the trash in it can ruin the next trans you attach it to.
This is a perfect time to spend about $250 for a higher-stall torque converter. But if that's not in the budget, try to get one from a 4.3L V6 S-10, it'll give you a good launch.

Okay, turns out the tranny that i pulled was from a 87 z28 305 LG4. I might be able to get the torque converter for the tranny though. Thanks for the information Attila its appreciated.
