Broke the speedo gear on the output shaft!!!
After WAY too long of prying the original gear off, i put the new one on. I was a 1/2 inch away from it seating when the damn thing snapped! Is there a trick to this? I lubed the shaft and gear before i put it on, i guess it was a little cold. I want my car back together!

I never had a prob like this, but maybe an inconsistancy in production toleance made the output shaft slightly oversized... Your not using a corvette tanny are u? Not that this is bad, but they have an extra hole in the shaft which may confuse where the clip goes.
If not try this... (never force!)
1st: lube the (ohh hell that sounds sick.. u get the idea) and try to equally tap it on (extremely lightly) if it seems too tight for a piece of plastic, back it off and
2nd: put the gear in toaster oven preheated to 300. after the first re-warm up cycle shut it off and leave it in there for 3 minutes and quickly try again..
If not there must be something wrong with that gear...... maybe burrs, or a missing ream step in manufacture. Try using emery on the gear until it fits.....
It should fit pretty tight! but remember it's only plastic.
Hope it helps
