Tranny Problems HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

I just installed a transgo shift kit earlier today and when I first went for a test drive it would not shift out of first gear. Then after a while I went for another drive and this time it shifted awesome, but after about 10 minutes of driving it just stayed in first and would not shift up anymore. What is going on?
Any advice before I have to go to a tranny shop?

Is it at all possible that if I over filled the tranny with fluid, that maybe that would cause the problem of the tranny not shifting out of first, maybe because too much fluid makes the pressure in the tranny too high?
It's just an idea, but does anyone else out there know what might be wrong?

I don't know if I can help with the Transgo kit... but I don't think that overfilling the trans will raise the fluid pressure. What happens is the pump starts to "aerate" (sp?) the fluid, and fills it with tiny bubbles. That means air bubbles, instead of fluid, tries to lubricate your trans- and it doesn't do so well. Overfill it too much, and fluid will bubble out of the vent hole in the top of the trans.

Possibly the governor gear was worn thin and the harder shift made it go???

Worth a check if all else fails....

How do I go about checking the governor? I know that it is covered by a stamped steel cover on the side of the tail of the tranny, but once I pry it off what am I looking for, and how hard is it to hammer the cover back on in such a tight spot? Is there suppose to be a seal on the cover?

Definetely check the governor. After my shift kit two wks ago my tranny had a great shift then it would not shift out of 1st. I checked the governor and found it was damaged. It's easy to replace. Pull the housing then pull the governor out checking for any broken particles(plastic pieces)then install new governor in. Use a new O-ring seal ,apply some locktite and there u have it. It should take you about 30-60 mins.
