4th gen rear axle swap into 3rd gen?

Planning on swapping in a 4th gen rear end into my '91. I am thinking this should be easy but was wondering if anyone has done this or has experience. Wondering if anything has to be changed with the brakes or anything else. Thanks

All the mounting hardware is a direct bolt-in. The 4th gen diff is 2 inches wider per side so correct backspace rims are required.

Thanks Stephen. The back spacing is the reason I'm doing this. I'm putting 4th gen SS
rims on it and didnt want to put spacers on with the stock rearend.

Hey Rick,
Make sure you post the results. I'm doing the same thing and using the same rims so I'd like to hear how you with your swap. By the way the tech page on this site has an article about doing this swap and according to this the 4th gen cables and brackets will work with your third gen parts. To bad the junkyard I bought mine out of cut the cables before I could tell them not to.
