B&M Megashifter Console shifter improved

I have read many posts on how difficult it is to get the Megashifter out of park. I was relieved to find out I was not the only one. I have also read the suggestions of using the 3ft shift cable from B&M to help.

Recently I had a transmission pan leak on the front passenger corner as well as a leak from the shift lever seal. Obviously I had to drop the pan to repair the leaks and when I had the pan off I decided to check out the shift detent spring.

I pulled the shift detent spring by removing the one bolt (13mm or 15mm socket I believe). While removing the bolt the spring just falls out. Once I pulled the detent spring I noticed it had quite an arch to it, making shifting difficult. So to help remedy the hard to shift problem I simply bent the detent spring more straight.

This has made a huge improvement on shifting from park and maybe once I need a new shift cable, the 3ft cable from B&M will make shifting even easier.

There's also one of those on the shifter. I just garbaged the one on the shifter, which helped. I'm sure it's probably still stiffer than most people would care for, but after years of using it I don't mind or care. Probably would be like stock if you get rid of the one on the shifter, use the short cable, and bend that like you did.

Great info. I can handle mine pretty good. But it is stiffer then my likings. Plus sometimes my wife wants to drive it. And I know she struggles. I am going to try this.
