A while back I swapped the 700R4 and replaced it with the TH-350 tranny. In the process of doing so the welded in nut from one of the cross member (CM) bolts broke and the bolt was spinning all by its self. I have since cut the bolt out and have been running with 3 ever since.

I will be installing a Spohn TA with a new CM soon. I would like to fix the CM bolt issue now due to the signifance of its use as the TA mounting location. Any suggestions on what the best way of fixing this is welcome.

Have a nut welded into the subframe.

I just slid a nut/washer inside the frame for the back two crossmember bolts ('82's didn't have TH700's). I had to punch an additional hole in the back of the frame rail to get them in (held with a box-end wrench), but other than that, no problem.

I tried to get up in the sub frame with a wrench and had too much trouble. That was two years ago I'll try it again this weekend.
My only concern with welding the a nut in the frame other than the welding part is lining up the nut to the bolt. Maybe I can get a shop to do that for $10. I do not have a welder.
