Gear Question

I can get a set of 3.23's from a 98 Z28 for $75. My question is, will these gears fit in my 92? I want to buy them, because (correct me if I'm wrong please) it will then be limited slip. However, if they're not going to fit, or if it won't be limited slip, I don't want to waste the money.

Depends upon exactly what all you're getting for your $75. If you are getting carrier and all, and the carrier is a posi, then you're good to go. Plan on paying someone to install and set up properly (prices I've heard range from $150 - $300).

If the carrier is not posi, or you're not getting the carrier, then you're probably out of luck. 1st, I assume you have 2.73 or 3.08 gears currently, in which case the gears won't fit your carrier. 2nd, I assume you don't have posi now, or you wouldn't ask the question.

Yes, the SLP take-off Torsen will drop right in a '92 10-bolt. As to what else you may need, it depends if you want to do it "by the book" or on the cheap. You're "supposed" to replace the ring gear bolts, bearings, etc. but unless there's any reason to believe they're damaged, you can use the existing ones and even use your outer races on the bearings still on the Torsen. SLP does not pull them off, but they do lose the outer races.
