Gears

I am looking for more low end torque and I am willing to sacrifice a little bit of top end as long as I can still drive on the highway (60-70 mph) without being through the rpm roof...

what gear set am I looking for?

Stay with the 3:23 stock set up. You don't make enough power for any gear change. Save your money for other mods. Also a gear change is not a DIY job and is expensive with parts and labor. If it is not broken , leave it alone.

Re: Gears

Unless he means just swapping in the entire rear end. That would be easier. As far as gears are concerned 3.42 (10 bolt) and 3.45 (9 bolt) are about as big as you are going to want to go with a relatively stock setup. I have a mildly modded 305 and the 3.42 was just a bit more than i wanted on the highway. I dropped it down to a 3.27 and its much nicer all around. As the other person above said, best of both worlds would probably be a 3.23/3.27.

Re: Gears

guys, he already has 3.42s if it's a 3.1/700R-4 combo. The best bet is a 3.73:1.

Re: Gears

No point in modding a v6. Leave it alone and dont waste your money.
