If the transmission is in stock form?, then it won't last much longer in most cases. If you are looking for a street/strip or road racing transmission I can help you out. Call me at 800 7763288 Mon-Sat 11-7 PST, and I will do my best to answer any questions you might have concerning your transmission and torque converter needs.
Glad Too Help!!!

Oh, by the way if you already have the Vigilante torque converter, then running it in front of the stock trans might help prolong the life of the transmission. The 9.5" Vigilante is somewhat lighter than the stock 12", thereby transmitting less shock to the gear train.

To be honest, I'm surprised your trans has lasted with the setup you have on it, let alone putting this 383 in. According to John Lingenfelter, but I do not quote; GM made these tranmissions to be very versatile and can handle over 400hp, however, they were not meant to take more than about 350lbs of torque and therefore the stock setup takes the car right up to that. The better convertor will help life, but you should really have a good rehaul done on it with much better cluthes and the like. Also a shift kit will help let it live a little longer too. If you don't feel like having the work done, you can always buy one from B&M, Hughes, or TCI and they will handle much more. Good luck. If you don't beat on it it might last much longer, but who here doesn't want to "drive" their car.
