New ES Poly Trans Mount = How far to shim X-Member?

Hey there...

I installed an Energy Suspension Poly Transmission mount just recently...

The first time I installed it I left the spacer plate out... The whole car rattled like crazy and it was awful at almost any speed...

The second time around I put the spacer plate in.... This made the car quiet down a little bit, but I still got a really bad vibration at about 2200-2500 RPM... (AKA what RPM I do most of my driving at)

Today I went and got some big washers to shim the trans crossmember.... I shimmed it just enough to make up for the thickness of that spacer plate.... This helped get rid of that bad vibration i was talking about, but you can tell it's still there..

Should I go back and shim the crossmember even more so it makes up for both the thickness of the spacer plate "and" the distance that the new poly mount raised the transmission compared to the old one?

My old transmission mount was actually in really good shape, so it shouldn't have raised it "that" far right?

I understand that this new mount is a hell of a lot stiffer than the rubber one I replaced, but the inside of my car is rattling like crazy and making all kinds of new noises, my dash especially..

I like being able to "feel" the car while im driving it, i just don't like to hear it

If not helpful, at least interesting: The following cars, according to my Camaro Parts and illustration Catalog CD, were factory equipped with the shim(s) p/n 1254001:

82-86 2.5L L4 (LQ9/2.5-2)
82-86 LB8/LB9/LG4
87-89 LB8

The following cars weren't so equipped:

87 LG4/LB9/L98
87-91 LB9/L98
88-91 L03
90-91 3.1 V6 (LHO/3.1T)

Mitchell says adding one shim to the trans mount will decrease the front yoke angle 1/2 degree and increase the rear angle by 1/4 degree. It all so works the other way. keep trying with the same size shims. It may take a few tries good luck

What about Spohn's mount??? They claim that it is the correct height... My energy suspension mount is causing me TONS of driveline noise... Really, it's terrible at highway speeds...
