clutch thickness
clutch thickness
I have an 85 TA 5-speed. I think the clutch plate is ok but i was wondering how thick it should be. I can still see a pattern in it but since i have the motor out i would like to be sure. How thick is a new oem style clutch plate?

If you're talking about the disc... they come with about .050" of material before the rivets. That will give you some idea of how much has gone away and how much is left.
Look at the flywheel and pressure plate. If they show any signs of heat-checking like blue or brown spots, or any cracks AT ALL in their surface, replace it all.
I'd recommend replacing the throwout bearing regardless of the condition of stuff, it's real cheap and may save you a trip back inside the bell housing later.
