A question for anyone who has ever installed a B & M Console Megashifter in their car

Did you have to cut on your console to make the shifter fit into it, and what kind of car did you install it in...a Camaro or Firebird? I'm asking this because I'm getting answers from some people that say they did, and from others that say they didn't. The only thing I can figure is maybe it fits in the Camaro with no cutting, but not in the Firebird, or that somewhere along the line B & M changed the design of the shifter enough to necessitate the cutting of the console piece. B & M has a disclaimer in their ad for the shifter stating that it will fit all 82-92 Camaros and Firebirds, except the 88-92 Formulas, but as far as I can tell all Firebirds use the same console.

...this is making me crazy...

:grrrrrrrrr:

90 IROC and i cut the plate..
and you also have to drill two holes in the floor below the console. but it is in a raised piece of metal so it wont be exposed to the elements..
and when you buy the shifter see if you can get the 3ft cable. my 5ft broke and i had to replace it and i went with the 3ft and it works great!!

I have an 87 GTA and had to cut the plate. However, I imagine it is possible B7M has resurected the problem by know, who knows.

Thanx for all the replies y'all...looks like pretty much everyone here had to cut the plate. Now I'm wondering why the new B & M ad says that it won't fit in the later Formulas...
