4 Speed question
Okay so since GM replaced the Muncie 4-speed with the T-5, Would it be possible to a muncie in a firebird? With out major reconstruction to the car?
I have a 88 Firebird with a 2.8 auto.
But I want to know if it would work in general and why and if it would work on mine. why/how or why not?

Also, what about an old Saginaw?

Re: 4 Speed question
Not sure how hard it'd be to do one behind a V6 motor since the bellhousing is different from a V8, and you'd also have to find a 10 spline clutch disc that's the smaller V6 diameter. As far as all the other parts to do the conversion, Spohn Performance sells the crossmember/torque arm, but it'll run you about $450 for that. The other thing you'll need is a longer driveshaft, which you can scrounge from an 82-83 f-body that came with either the TH200C automatic or the 4 speed. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think I've seen a couple of 82-83 3rd gens that had the V6 with a 4 speed. If you could find one of those cars being parted out, you'd be able to get everything you'd need for really cheap. I saw an 82 Firebird in a local yard about a year ago, and it had a 4 speed manual, and I'm about 90% sure it was a 6 cylinder car. Find one of those and you'd be golden. Thread
