Well, I've got an 82 camaro that came with a 4 speed saginaw. I ditched the 4 speed for a 700r4, and the crossmember that was in the car does not work. I have another crossmember from an original 700r4 camaro, and it doesn't line up with the holes in the frame. Are there any crossmembers that are for this type of a swap or would it be easy enough to somehow make an adapter of some sort?

the 700r4 crossmember that you have will work, but it sits back a little further and uses different holes. There should be 3 holes in each frame rail for the crossmembers, the 700r4 crossmember uses the middle and the rear most holes, i believe the 4 speed used the center and the front most holes. you may have to tap the hole for the rear most bolt i think its 16mmx1.5.

I did that swap with mine back in '95, my z came with LG4
,b/w super t-10,3.23 axle-as far as i remember one of the
4 holes was open, with no weldnut so i had to slip a nut in
position through a hole in the frame member.

may have to drill new holes and get a nut up into the frame member and hold with a wrench as bolt inserted and tightened-had to do that with one hole on my '82,other hole was there but no threaded insert-had to fish a nut up into the frame member for that one too.

Would I need to find the 22.5 inch crossmember for puttin the t5 in? It originally had a saginaw 4speed....the car didn't have a crossmember when I bought it
