I'm guessing both these apps are factory linkage and cables?
The detent cable is supposed to be fully extended at WOT. If it is not fully extended, but is adjusting anyway, then the locking mechanism on the cable is weak. If you are trying to change your shift points by adjusting the cable, you can/will damage the transmission. The tv cable controls line pressure inside the trans, which in turn varies the pressure applied to the governor, thus varying the shift points. To tune the shift points you have to change the weights and/or springs in the governor.
If these are non-factory linkage, Superior makes a TV correction kit that utilizes a small spring a clip to increase the cable tension at part thottle, but allow for travel to WOT w/o over extending the cable.
