Line pressure
My idle and forward pressure is 80, 120 in
reverse.
At 1000 rpm the line pressure with the tv cable fully extended is 150 psi.
My question is, at the 1000 rpm full tv test
the needle vibrates between 150 and 120.
Is this normal?? You can feel the pulsing on the guage hose.
The trans seems to shift early at wot. I have the high output governor in it with 373 gears.. Tv cable is set up right.
The only thing I can think it might be is the pr valve. In the transgo shift kit it said to grind the land flush. It had grind marks on two sides before I did it flush.
Could this make the pressure erratic??

Grinding the land seems to lessen the erratic behavior. Which gear did you do the test in?. You should do the test in each gear to get further readings. Grinding the land also increases the lube to the rear planet. Most of the time this flucuation happens only in reverse at pressures above 220 lbs. When I find out something further I will let you know. Hope this helps!!!

I found the problem. It had nothing to do with the shift kit. When I asked the tranny for more line pressure for tighter shifts, trouble started.
It turned out to be a bad pump. It had an internal leak at high pressure.
It was leaking from the line pressure side into the pressure decrease line. The pump would kick down at 160 psi, then bounce back up. When I took it apart it showed signs of sanding on the pump face. The ultimate No No.
Took it back to where I bought it, got a refund and went someplace else and bought a
Tuff Pump. It came with all the upgrades and
mods already done. Those Guy's do nice work!!

Off topic, but while I am talking about good
products, I have had nothing but great results from Transgo kits. The SK700 kit is great for mild motors (300hp). The 700-2-3 kit is great for higher than 300. Also the best torque converters I have tried came from
the Transmissioncenter.net.
I live in CA, and don't mind the wait for the product to ship. Some of the best welding
I have ever seen. Smooth stall speeds and NEVER any vibration.
Not to mention both shops have the best tech support you will ever find........
