Factory 3.45's? True or false?
Possible, yes.
I just put a 9 bolt (that is 9 bolts in the diff cover not ring gear bolts) 3.45 posi axle with disc brakes, on my '82 Firebird, that supposedly came from an '87 IROC. Trust me this was a chore since GM changed from Standard fittings to Metric fittings on the brake lines sometime between these years, but it can be done!
I thought the 3.45 gears were aftermarket though. I couldn't find anything about them in stock listings for any GM F-bodies in '87 and they looked brand new when I cracked the cover to check out the internals.

As far as I know, 3.45 9-bolt rear ends only came on 305 5-speed cars. 350 Automatic cars got the 2.77 or 3.27 9-bolts for years 87-89.

you are from Waco, Texas? if so, that is only a 3 hour drive from where I live. How much miles/ wear do your gears have on them? How well does the posi carrier work? I think $275 is a good price for them if they had less miles b/c 138k makes me a little worried about the shape they are in and how much longer they will last. I am not a gear expert but that is my opinion.

The rearend has about 90,000 miles on it. I put about 10,000 miles on it and the rest was put on by a little old lady who was the only driver until I bought it from her. I dont realy know what the exact condition of it is, but it never gave me any problems. I swaped it ought for a 10 bolt so I could use 4.10 gears with my miniram. And yes I am form Waco Texas.
