Why did shift point change??

I've recently started using my car again after two years. It used to shift at 5500 rpm with the springs and weights I used on the governor kit in my 700. It's an 87 so it's not electric. I had a clogged cat, replaced it, and the car ran fine. I've now gutted it and it's seems to be running fairly well. The trans has a small leak at the rear seal, and the trans itself is quite new can't have more than 3000 on it. The fluid is full using hurst hot shift. I have not touched anything in the trans. I do think that there might be some sort of problem with my Ford 9 rear, but I can't see how that would change the shift point. When the car had the clogged cat it was shifting real low, like 3500, cause the engine couldn't breath to let it go any higher, but now it revs free, but shifts on it's own around 4500-5000 when it is warm. I can't understand what else I can check. HELPPPPPPPP!

As long as no changes were made to the induction system or the trans then you need to cheack your TV adjustment. It sounds like you are not getting full TV at WOT anymore. Loosen the adjustment on the cable and with the peddle to the floor, make sure that the throttle goes full. If not, bend brackets or whatever till it does. Now, with the peddle still to the floor, pull the cable housing back until you can not move it any more. Lock the cable there and mark it for future reference. Now, at WOT you have max TV and if all is right inside the trans you should be back to your normal WOT shift points. Any more cable than this will just bend something. That is why I don't do the GM floor the peddle crap. It may work when it is new but after it has gone through a few thousand hot/cold cycles things start to give a little.
