Which Tranny to Get to back my ZZ4?

Well, it looks as if I finally did it. I broke my 700r4, and now I'm on the market for a new transmission. I have a $2000 (including install) budget and would love to keep it well under that figure, but not break again. I have a ZZ4 (hence the name 89iroczz4)and it is running 13.40. When I'm done,I'll probably be running high 12's. So...my question to you is this: With $2,000 to play with (again, keeping in mind that includes install), what can/should I get tha will hold up and maybe get me a little quicker? I am COMPLETELY in the dark when it comes to this stuff. My old one had a corvette servo and a shift kit. That's about all I know about it. Are we looking at a 350, 400, 700R4, T56 what? (I'm guessing not the T56 but I figured I would sneek that one in). Any help GREATLY appreciated!

Go to www.phoenixtrans.com. They have a transmission designed exactly for the ZZ4. Any problems finding it just let me know

A T56 should hold that kind of power and can be done for under 2k, even if you're doing an auto-to-stick swap.

The biggest problem you'll have is wondering what to do when the rear explodes. It will die QUICKLY if you're running 12s in the 1/4. A stick is much much harder on the rear.

FWIW I trashed my 3.23 ten-bolt with the stock ZZ4 and a WC T5. No damage to the T5.

I have helped others on this board with their 700R4 transmission problems. Did you have a particular torque converter in mind? The complete package (700R4 street/strip & a 2,500-2,800 rpm stall 9.5" ACT torque converter) is $1875.00. Both come with a one year warranty and a stall speed change if desired. If you desire a Precision Industries Vigilante to come with this transmission, then give me a call on price. This transmission is my top of the line 700R4 with the latest updates & modifications that I do. The stall on the torque converter will be based mainly on the duration of the cam @.050 lift & the rear end gear ratio, and if you drive agressively or not. If you have any questions on this, please give me a call at 800 7763288 Mon-Sat 10-6 PST.
Glad Too Help!!!

A 700R4 will have no probs behind your motor... Even if you decide to up the power even more.
