a few weeks ago i had a leak coming from my speedo cable thats fixed. now i need to replace all that fluid i lost. the guys at napa and autozone suggested motor oil. it did not make much sense to me so i went to the dealership and they were not sure saying to put in auto trans fluid.
my chilton book says to put in 5w-30 manual transmission fluid. i have an 87 350 v8 with a manual transmission. if anyone knows what kind to put in it would help a lot thanks

how do i know if my t-5 tranny is a world class or non world-class t-5. i was reading that link you sent me to and about half way down a guy says that its ok to run the atf, 5w-30 non-synthetic, and the gear lubricant. still confused some but making progess. another post said to use a mix of 1/2 atf and 1/2 gear oil. which one would you use

 

If your 87 trans is original to your car, you have a non-WC. I use ATF.

yea when i bought it i was told it had an automatic in it before the engine was rebuilt and replaced with a manual trans. the 87 iroc did not come with a manual transmission. is it ok to use atf in both the non and world class t-5. i appreciate the help.
