TH350 and 3.73's same price as 700R4?
TH350 and 3.73's same price as 700R4?
Forgive me, because the thought of this makes my heart skip a beat...
I have heard the TH350's cost less to build (whichever it is, I need a strong one), than a 700R4. I have a 700R4 currently that took a crap on me, and I have about 2 grand, and instead of just being bummed about having to put a bunch of money in to replace it, I would like it to come back alive and kickin'. So, my question is this: If I were to get a beefy TH350 and 3.73 gears, would it cost as much as getting a beefy 700R4? I don't know a *whole lot* about cars, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, my 700R4 was rebuilt 3 years ago with a corvette servo and a shift kit. Can I use these in the next tranny I get? Thanks so much for any help!

Tanner,
did it actually take a full fledge dump on ya? That blows man. You're going to lose a lot of streetablilty if you put in a TH350 w/ 3.73s. that's still going to run you close to the 2 grand. for parts and labor.
you have mail.

3.73's with a th350 and 245/50r16's will give you 3000rpm at 60 mph. The 700r4 with that combo will give you 2150rpm at 60. If you drive on the highway much, stick with the overdrive.

I have a 700r4 that I've had for 3 years,I've done some terrible things to it and it still works,it's a little burnt up,but it still works. you just have to get it built at a good shop that offers a warranty on rebuilt units. check local classifieds for gears.
