torque converter lock up

I read some where that the computer tells the tranny to lock up (through the plug in the side of the tranny)but applying a 12v signal, is this true??? and if it is can i just wire up a wire to a switch and use the switch to lock up the tc???(because i have no computer in my car any more)

Okay, Black82Z, if you want to know, then goto thirdgen.org, click the tech articles link, and look for it there.

Actually the 12 volts is always there, the computer provides the ground when certain criteria are met. You could do the same thing with a switch if you wanted to or wire in switches inside of the trans to give L/U when it hits 4th.
