Manual Tansmission Torque Limitation

OK, I've been sifting through the threads here on this board, and I've found different answers to the questions of torque limitations of the t-5 and t-56. What are the limitations, as far as torque is concerned, for the t-5, and the t-56? Is there a difference between the t-56 behind a v6 and a v8?

The T5 is only good for around 310 lb-ft of torque.

oops, my bad, slip of the finger there. I meant to type t-5, not t-56 behind a v6 or v8. (from the factory)
