Transmission compatability question

my t5 in my 2.8l recently ....well it basically died . anyways when at a guys house looking for a motor i happened to see an old saganaw 4 speed i took a look inside and it seemed pretty clean as well as the fact that this guy is reliable...so i brought it home in hopes that it will work with my motor, i am just wondering if any one can confirm this for me? i cant try it because my car is parked for the winter but would like to know if i am going to be able to use it or whether i should look for something else ...my last choice would be to go back to a t5 because all i have read has called them junk and i agree...thanks fior all the help

Re: Transmission compatability question

I don't know if the Saginaw will bolt up to the T5 bellhousing. Because the third gen floor pan is so low, the T5 bellhousing has the clutch release mounted down at about a 45* angle to clear the floorboards. Older manual transmission bellhousings have it pointing straight off the side. This would put the clutch release right about where the gas pedal is.

Anything can be made to fit with modifications but don't expect everything to be an easy swap.
