very hard downshifting

When I am slowing down at red lights or anywhere else, my tranny downshifts very hard. It is noisy like a chattering sound. I just recently installed 3.73's, but im not sure if this has anythign to do with it. The cable from the tranyy to the TB is also properly adjusted. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions.
thanks alot
