Im putting a TH350 into my 83 TA

Im going to install a 6 inch tailshaft Th350 in my car which currently has a 700-R4. I plan to use the B&M conversion kit. What else will I need to do. I know I need a different drive shaft but what about the cross member, kickdown cable, shifter cable, speedp gears? Also thje trans has something on the tailshaft that appears to be something vacuum related. What is this thing and what do I do to make it work right? Thanks for any help.

Why not just use the 700R-4? IT could handle your 383 if it is built right. And you will have the benifits of OD when you are driving.

I WOULD RATHER PUSH A CAMARO THAN DRIVE AN IMPORT

1983Z28 350w/ edelbrock performer RPM power package , dynomax shorty headers, 700R-4 with shift kit, 750cfm carb, edelbrock 3" exhaust system, ASCD SS hood, 16" IROC rims.

future mods:
completely done over suspension, black paint with flames, Hurst shifter, dakota digital gauge package, procharger supercharger.

Believe me, I wanted to stick with the four speed but its pretty much smoked. It won't shift into third gear-period. Plus have you priced those things lately? $1600 new,$1200 remanufactured. Even my cousin who can hook me up on a good rebuild said it would probably push $600. Like I have the money. I grabbed a real low mile Th350 that shifted like new. With a shift kit, this'll be a dead consistant trans for the track. Plus I don't do a lot of freeway driving.

Well it costs a good amount of money to switch to a th350. You need a new flexplate, starter, detent cable, and a change over kit. although if you get a new th350 that is the same length you wont have too get a new drive shaft. They do make them.I know because I did it twice. Once with a 84 camaro and once with a 84 T/A.
