swap from 200c to 700R-4
My friend is doing this swap and he wants to know everything he will need. this is what I told him: kickdown cable, non-locking converter or lock-up kit, driveshaft and tranny mount. Anything else?
Also will the torque arm from the 200c work with the 700R-4? thanks for any help

I WOULD RATHER PUSH A CAMARO THAN DRIVE AN IMPORT
1983Z28 350w/ edelbrock performer RPM power package , dynomax shorty headers, 700R-4 with shift kit, 750cfm carb, edelbrock 3" exhaust system, ASCD SS hood, 16" IROC rims.
future mods:
completely done over suspension, black paint with flames, Hurst shifter, dakota digital gauge package, procharger supercharger.

I was under the impression that TH700's were available before the TH200 was discontinued, so '83-later frames had the holes for the shorter (farther back) crossmember. But, I could be wrong. I didn't have a lot of trouble getting the 700 to crossmember mount - just drilled two new holes.
Getting a TH700 torque arm would be a no-hassle way to make it work - cutting & welding the longer 200 torque arm doesn't make much sense to me, when the correct-length part should be easy to find. Same for the crossmember.
Or, get all the pieces needed from Spohn. He'll have what it takes to make it work, and they'll be better pieces than stock.
By all means, keep the lockup torque convertor! The same wires that locked up the 200C will lock up a 700.

Oh, although 82 mentioned his MegaShifter, your friend will need a different shifter & cable.
I built a few of these crossmembers and just added them as a product to the website:

You don't have to cut and weld the torque arm. Just take a couple of inches of the front of it. Jig saw, 5 minutes with a good blade and did it on the car. He never said what year his friends car was(82 or 83). If it's an 83, I would guess in 83 that some didn't have the correct holes if it had a th200c. GM wasn't good about changing it's production(the subframe holes) exactly at the end of a production year. I know of at least one 83 th200c that wasn't 'dual pattern'. After you drilled the holes in the subframe five7kid, you had to weld up some kind of nut in the subframe right? Not saying my way is the best, but drilling the holes is just part of your method. Why modify the car when I can modify the crossmember was my thinking.
100 bucks for that aftermarket crossmember? I think I need to make a few more LOL. It must be really nice!!
