Estimate how much power lost through drivetrain?

Since this deals with the transmission and the drivetrain, I thought it would be appropriate to post my question here...

About how much HP and TQ is lost going through the transmission and the drivetrain before it hits the wheels?

If it is specific to what type of tranny and gears, then how much is my car losing through all of it's drivetrain? It's a 700R4 tranny and has 2.73 gear.

Thanks!

Rough estimate would be 20% with a auto, type
of auto trans and gears make no difference.

I think the rule of thumb is 15-18 percent for speeds, and 20-23 for an auto. At least that's what the dyno guy at Holley said.
